Investing and building wealth with financial assets
How Investment lending works
It works in a similar way to borrowing money to purchase a home or investment property. You borrow money to invest in a portfolio of listed securities and/or managed funds. The borrowed funds are then secured against the portfolio of financial assets.
Why use an Investment loan
By borrowing to invest in financial assets, you’ll be able to access a range of opportunities from around the world and possibly grow your investment into a profitable portfolio or an additional income stream.
You may also be able to reduce you taxable income depending on your circumstances. Interest paid on an investment loan is generally tax deductable when the loan is used to invest in managed funds or shares.

There are risks associated with borrowing to invest. Some of these include, but are not limited to, rising interest rates, changes in taxation law and movements in the prices of your investments which may have an effect on your financial position. While a margin loan or principal and interest investment loan can increase gains in a rising market, it can also magnify losses if the market declines. NAB recommends you speak to your financial adviser before deciding to invest.
NAB is the issuer of NAB Equity Builder, NAB Margin Loan and NAB Super Lever, and recommends you consider the relevant Facility Terms and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) before making any decisions.
