How we make an impact

See how we support our colleagues and communities to work together.

Volunteer leave

Take 16 hours of paid leave each year to volunteer at your favourite charity, or give your time with skilled volunteering.

Workplace giving

Every hour of volunteering you do – whether it’s on NAB time or your own time - earns you $5 to donate to a charity of your choice.

Environmental resilience fund

The NAB Foundation’s Environmental Resilience Fund supports practical projects that build environmental resilience to natural disasters and climate change.

Our community involvement

We’re committed to making a positive and sustainable impact and play an active role in the communities in which our people live and work.

Our community involvement is significant through volunteering, workplace giving, grants and supporting Indigenous businesses to create stronger communities. We also play a role in supporting Australians before, during and after natural disasters with NAB’s Ready Together program.

Whether you volunteer your time and skills, donate, fundraise or play another part in securing a sustainable future we’ll give you opportunities to make a positive difference to our customers, colleagues, communities and the environment.

Volunteering opportunities

We’re proud to be one of Australia’s most active corporate volunteers. We’ve contributed more than two million volunteer hours to communities over the past 20 years, helping tackle some of the country’s biggest social and environmental issues. When you join NAB, you’ll be encouraged to take time either individually or as part of your team to get involved and make a difference to your local communities.

We give our colleagues 16 hours of general volunteer leave each year to make a positive impact. We partner with community organisations that make a real difference across Australia. If you’re passionate about a cause you can organise your own volunteering directly with a charity you care deeply about.

Volunteering secondments

For employees who want to invest more in a social issue by volunteering their expertise, NAB has three bespoke skilled volunteering secondments that help not-for-profits deepen their impact. From a few days to six weeks long, the secondments are available using NAB’s unlimited skilled volunteering leave.

Community strategy challenges

A team of colleagues from different divisions across the bank come together for two weeks to unpack a strategic problem for a charity partner. The group must delve into the issue, come up with a workable solution and then present it to the charity’s executives and NAB’s leaders.

Jawun Indigenous business secondments

Colleagues travel to the Kimberleys in Western Australia for six weeks to support an Indigenous social and economic project. This is an immersive and deeply impactful cultural experience.

Disaster resilience and recovery program

Colleagues use their skills to help community groups and small businesses impacted by natural disasters. Volunteer roles are carefully scoped so that colleagues use their expertise to produce results that make a real difference to disaster affected communities.

Workplace giving

NAB also supports colleagues to take action where it is needed most by matching your efforts with dollars for charity.

  • Every hour of volunteering you do – whether it’s on NAB time or your own time - earns you $5 to donate to a charity of your choice.
  • One-off or recurring donations to your favourite charities can come directly from your pre-tax pay.
  • When you join NAB, you immediately get $10 to donate to any charity you choose. Just log on to our internal volunteering and giving platform NAB Neighbourhood.

NAB Foundation community grants

The NAB Foundation is NAB’s philanthropic arm. We’re an independent charity that aims to be a catalyst for positive social and environmental change in Australia. Through giving and investments, the Foundation is committed to new and innovative ways to use philanthropic capital for greater social impact.

At a time when Australia’s climate is changing, our communities and environment face increased risk from natural disasters. The Foundation focuses on initiatives that help Australians before, during and after natural disasters.
