Flexible architecture

We need to deliver more and deliver it faster to keep pace with ever evolving customer needs and expectations. We’re embracing the microservices architecture movement to build the foundations which will allow us to rapidly scale, grow our businesses, and deliver value for our people and customers.

Cloud technology

In 2018, we were the first bank in Australia to launch a cloud-first strategy. For over a decade we've been an industry leader in cloud capability and now we’re supercharging it. Alongside our cloud partners AWS and Microsoft, we’re pushing further with our ambitions to have 80 percent of our apps on the cloud in 2023.

Data and artificial intelligence

We recognise the potential of how we can use data and artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionise digital experiences. Strengthening and broadening our capability in AI and machine learning at scale is fast becoming the key way for us to deliver an effortless and personalised experience for our customers and colleagues.

With a dedicated Data, Digital and Analytics team, we’re using exciting new technologies, and industry-wide initiatives like Open Banking, to create safe and secure digital experiences.

World class tech development

The NAB Cloud Guild is our leading training program to build and grow the technical capabilities of our people. The Guild is available to all NAB colleagues and focuses on upskilling in architecture, security, development, operations,  AI, machine learning and big data. In just three years we’ve trained over 7,000 colleagues in cloud technology and delivered more than 2,700 industry recognised cloud certifications.

Graduates of the Guild can become certified cloud practitioners and can continue their training to become an associate developer, associate systems operator or an associate architect in AWS or Azure technologies. We also run many other Guilds with a Data and Analytics focus.

Cyber security

In a digital world, ensuring our customers and colleagues are safe online is our priority.

We have real time detection strategies and technology in place to identify suspicious activity and protect the NAB Group and its customer information, including partnering with companies like BugCrowd.
