Things to know about activating your card and setting a PIN:

  • Please be aware you’ll need to be registered for SMS Security to activate your card and set your PIN via the NAB app and NAB Internet Banking.
  • You should activate your card as soon as you receive it.
  • Additional cardholders will need to activate their own card.
  • You can use the NAB app or NAB Internet banking to activate your card or change your pin while overseas. To use these options, you’ll need to be able to receive a security code and have your phone on global roaming while overseas. If you can’t activate using these channels, you can call us on +61 3 8641 9083.
  • You can also activate your card by sending us an SMS. Just text your NAB ID (back of card) and the last eight digits of your card to +61 438 344 818 - leaving a space between both numbers. Then follow the prompts. 
    • If you activate your card by SMS, you’ll need to set your PIN at a NAB ATM.

Instructions for mobile devices

  1. Log into the NAB app on your device.

  2. If using an Android phone, tap the Menu icon.

  3. Tap Cards.

  4. Your new card will say ‘Activate’. Tap the card.

  5. To activate your card, tap Activate card.

  6. Enter the last eight digits of your card. Tap Next set a PIN.

  7. Enter a four-digit PIN.

  8. Re-enter your new PIN to confirm.

  9. A verification code will be sent via SMS to your registered number.

  10. Enter the security code, then tap Continue.

  11. Your card has been successfully activated.

NAB Internet Banking

Instructions for web browsers

  1. Log into NAB Internet Banking with your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID and password.

  2. Select Cards.

  3. Your new card will say ‘Activate’. Select the card.

  4. To activate your card, select Activate.

  5. Enter the last eight digits of your card. Then select Next.

  6. Enter and confirm your new four-digit PIN. Select Continue.

  7. You will receive an SMS security code. Enter the security code and click Activate now.

  8. Your card has been successfully activated.
