Signing up to NAB Bookkeeper

How do I sign up for NAB Bookkeeper?

NAB Internet Banking

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
    If you do not see the NAB Bookkeeper option in the dropdown, click Products instead. In the Products page, select the Business category tab and then click the NAB Bookkeeper tile. You may need to select a business entity to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper.
  4. Select Start free trial.
  5. Review your business details and click Start.
  6. A list of eligible accounts to be linked to NAB Bookkeeper will display. Select which accounts to link to NAB Bookkeeper and click Next. Note, it is defaulted to have all accounts selected and you will need to deselect the accounts you do not wish to see.
  7. Select Next to enjoy your free trial of NAB Bookkeeper. NAB will confirm with you the billing account before the end of the free trial.
  8. Confirm the profile and account details. You will be able to change the linked accounts later. By clicking Activate subscription, you confirm that you accept the NAB Bookkeeper Terms & Conditions and Thriday End User Agreement.
  9. Select Launch NAB Bookkeeper to start taking control of your financial admin today!

NAB app

  1. Login to NAB app (iOS or Android) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB Business accounts.
    • For iOS, tap the More menu and select Bookkeeping.
    • For Android, tap the Hamburger menu and select Bookkeeping.
  2. Select Start free trial.
  3. Review your business details and click Start.
  4. A list of eligible accounts to be linked to NAB Bookkeeper will display. Select which accounts to link to NAB Bookkeeper and click Next. Note, it is defaulted to have all accounts selected and you will need to deselect the accounts you do not wish to see.
  5. Select Next to enjoy your free trial of NAB Bookkeeper. NAB will confirm with you the billing account before the end of the free trial.
  6. Confirm the profile and account details. You will be able to change the linked accounts later. By clicking Activate subscription, you confirm that you accept the NAB Bookkeeper Terms & Conditions and the Thriday End User Agreement.
  7. Select Launch NAB Bookkeeper to start taking control of your financial admin.

What are eligible accounts for NAB Bookkeeper when I sign up?

NAB Bookkeeper is designed to be powered by your NAB business transaction account, so that it can automatically categorise your business transactions and enable features like invoice and receipt matching. Before you can enable NAB Bookkeeper, your business must hold at least one of the following NAB business accounts:

Who is eligible to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper?

Only the owners of the business can sign up for NAB Bookkeeper. If there are multiple owners in the business, only one owner needs to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper. After signing up, NAB Bookkeeper will be visible to any other business owners when they login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with their own business NAB ID or personal NAB ID (if the business accounts are linked).

Who qualifies as a business owner?

In relation to who is eligible to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper, a business owner means a:

  • Sole trader – the sole trader
  • Company – a director or secretary of the company
  • Partnership – a partner of the partnership or the manager of the partnership
  • Trust with individual trustee(s) – the individual trustee(s)
  • Trust with a corporate trustee – the directors of the trustee. 

Which business structures can sign up for NAB Bookkeeper?

NAB Bookkeeper is currently available for sole traders, Australian private companies, partnerships and trusts (individual and corporate trustee).

Is NAB Bookkeeper available for all industries?

NAB Bookkeeper is not currently available for all industries due to specialised tax and accounting requirements. We are working on making it available to as many business types and customers as possible as we extend the capabilities for specialised industries. 

Can I sign up for NAB Bookkeeper for more than one business?

Yes, you can sign up more than one business for NAB Bookkeeper.

Simply login to Internet Banking or through the NAB app using each business's NAB ID and sign up for NAB Bookkeeper. If you have multiple businesses linked to the same NAB ID, choose the business entity you'd like to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper.

Managing NAB Bookkeeper

What accounts can I view or link in NAB Bookkeeper?

Accounts visible on NAB Bookkeeper are:

  • NAB Business Everyday Account ($0 monthly fee) 
  • NAB Business Everyday Account ($10 monthly fee) 
  • NAB Business Interest Account
  • NAB Business Cash Maximiser
  • NAB Term Deposit
  • NAB Business Card
  • NAB Business Low Rate Card
  • NAB Qantas Business Signature Card
  • NAB Rewards Business Signature Card
  • NAB Business Payments Card
  • QuickBiz Overdraft
  • NAB QuickBiz Loan
  • NAB Business Options Loan
  • NAB Business Overdraft
  • NAB Cash Manager

How do I add or remove accounts from NAB Bookkeeper?

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
    If you do not see the NAB Bookkeeper option in the dropdown, click Products instead. In the Products page, select the Business category tab and then click the NAB Bookkeeper tile. You may need to select a business entity to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper.
  4. On the right pane, select Manage my subscription..
  5. Next to ‘Linked accounts’, select Edit.
  6. Select or deselect accounts as desired and then select Save.
  7. Your linked accounts will now be updated. The update may take anywhere from 1hr to 24hrs to be visible.

How do I cancel my NAB Bookkeeper subscription?

Before you cancel your NAB Bookkeeper subscription, we recommend you download your accounting data including statements and reports for tax and reporting purposes.
You will not be able to access the data once the subscription is cancelled and you may not be able to access the data if you re-enrol your subscription at a subsequent financial year.

NAB Internet Banking

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
    If you do not see the NAB Bookkeeper option in the dropdown, click Products instead. In the Products page, select the Business category tab and then click the NAB Bookkeeper tile. You may need to select the business entity you want to cancel the NAB Bookkeeper subscription for.
  4. On the right pane, select Manage my subscription.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, select Cancel subscription.
  6. By cancelling your subscription, you will stop sharing your NAB business account information, account balances, transaction history and contact details with NAB Bookkeeper. We recommend you backup and download your NAB Bookkeeper data before cancelling your subscription.
    Where you cancel your subscription:
    • During a free trial period, you will only have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of that day (11:59PM AEST/AEDT) unless otherwise indicated; and
    • At any other time, you will continue to have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of your billing month.
  7. Select Cancel NAB Bookkeeper subscription.
  8. Click Yes, cancel subscription to confirm the cancellation.
  9. All business owners will receive an email about the NAB Bookkeeper subscription cancellation. You will still have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the subscription end date which shows at the bottom of the screen.

NAB app

  1. Login to the NAB app (IOS or android) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB Business accounts.
    • For iOS, tap the More menu and select Bookkeeping.
    • For Android, tap the Hamburger menu and select Bookkeeping.
  2. Select Manage my subscription.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, select Cancel subscription.
  4. By cancelling your subscription, you will stop sharing your NAB business account, along with any information, account balances, transaction history and contact details associated with NAB Bookkeeper. We recommend you backup and download your NAB Bookkeeper data before cancelling your subscription.
  5. Where you cancel your subscription:
    • During a free trial period, you will only have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of that day (11:59PM AEST/AEDT) unless otherwise indicated; and
    • At any other time, you will continue to have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of your billing month.
  6. Select Cancel NAB Bookkeeper subscription.
  7. Click Yes and cancel the subscription to confirm.
  8. All business owners will receive an email about their NAB Bookkeeper subscription cancellation. You will still have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the subscription end date, which will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Are there any fees associated with NAB Bookkeeper?

Not for the first 6-months. NAB is offering an exclusive 6-month free trial period. The subscription fee will be $19.95/month following the end of the trial period.
Please note, the free trial period and the subscription fee does not include any fees or charges which Thriday may charge you directly for any Additional Services as outlined in the Thriday End User Licence Agreement.

Accessing NAB Bookkeeper

How do I access NAB Bookkeeper once I’ve signed up?

NAB Internet Banking

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
    If you do not see the NAB Bookkeeper option in the dropdown, click Products instead. In the Products page, select the Business category tab and then click the NAB Bookkeeper tile. You may need to select the business entity you want to access NAB Bookkeeper for.
  4. On the right pane, select Launch NAB Bookkeeper
  5. Click OK, got it.

NAB app

  1. Login to the NAB app (with the iOS or Android version) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. For iOS, tap the More menu and select Bookkeeping.
  3. For Android, tap the Hamburger menu and select Bookkeeping.
  4. Tap Launch NAB Bookkeeper. This will open in your phone’s browser app.

Which NAB ID do I login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with to access or sign up for NAB Bookkeeper?

Login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with the same NAB ID you use to view and manage your NAB business accounts.

If you have different businesses linked to the same NAB ID, choose the business entity you'd like to access or sign up for NAB Bookkeeper.

Who can access my NAB Bookkeeper?

Only the owners of the business can access the business’s NAB Bookkeeper profile.

Can I give access to NAB Bookkeeper to someone else?

No, NAB Bookkeeper only supports use by business owners. If there are multiple business owners, only one business owner needs to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper. This will then be visible to the other business owners when they login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with their own NAB ID (if business accounts are linked).

You won’t be able to give access to someone who is not an owner of the business. 

Can I use the same NAB Bookkeeper subscription for more than one business?

No, each business must have its own NAB Bookkeeper subscription. If you own multiple businesses, then you will need to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper for each business individually.

Can I access or view more than one business’s NAB Bookkeeper profile at a time?

No, you can only access or view one business’s NAB Bookkeeper profile at a time. If you own multiple businesses, each business must have its own NAB Bookkeeper profile to ensure accounting records are kept separate for each business for tax purposes.

Can I access NAB Bookkeeper in the NAB app?

Yes, NAB Bookkeeper can be accessed via the NAB app with the same NAB ID you use to view and manage your NAB business accounts.

Ensure you have the latest version of the app and follow the instructions below: 

  1. Login to the NAB app (iOS or Android) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
    • For iOS, tap the More Menu and select Bookkeeping.
    • For Android, tap the Hamburger Menu and select Bookkeeping.
  2. Tap Launch NAB Bookkeeper.
