Terms and definitions
Scheme card
A Scheme card refers to one of the following card types:
- Visa Debit
- Visa Credit
- Mastercard Credit
- Mastercard Debit
Scheme Card Issuer Fee
The Card Issuer Fee ("interchange") is set by the card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS and UnionPay) and is paid by the acquirer (the Merchant's financial institution, in this case NAB) to the card issuer (the financial institution whose name is on the card). The fee per transaction varies depending upon the type of card, type of transaction and the method used to accept each transaction. This fee is charged as a percentage of net sales ($) volume of all Mastercard, Visa cards and UnionPay cards processed and is charged monthly to your nominated account.
Service Fee
The Service Fee is charged by NAB to cover costs which include transaction processing, card scheme fees, technology, risk, compliance, fraud and fraud prevention, merchant statements, and a 24-hour Merchant Service Centre. This fee is charged as a percentage of net sales ($) volume of all Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay cards processed and is charged monthly to your nominated account.
Domestic (Dom)
Card issued by an Australian financial institution.
International
Card issued by an overseas financial institution.
CR
Transactions involving a credit account.
DR
Transactions involving a debit card such as Visa Debit or Maestro which access the cardholder's bank account.
Electronic (Elec)
Consumer card transactions processed at an EFTPOS terminal.
Recurring Payment
(a) Consumer Card transactions processed at an approved Recurring Payment Transaction Service Merchant, and the cardholders have signed an agreement with the merchant to authorise the merchant to debit their card for regular payments
(b) All credit and debit MasterCard product codes processed at an approved Recurring Payment Transaction Service Merchant.
