How it works

You can pay your deposit payment for your property purchase at auction or private sale in real time using PayTo®.

PayTo is an easy way to authorise and control payments from your bank account. It involves you receiving a PayTo agreement authorisation request on your banking app so that you can authorise the agreement. This can be sent from your real estate agent via your banking app or internet banking, which you can review and authorise to make your deposit payment. This is only available when your real estate agency offers this through NAB Portal Pay.

Although this is intended to allow payment of your deposit in real time, there may be scenarios where limits or time delays may be placed on payments by other financial institutions. If you intend to pay your deposit using PayTo, we suggest first checking with your financial institution to see if it is available and if there are any limitations.

What you need to do

  1. Your real estate agent will ask you to consent to NAB’s Privacy Policy and will collect your account or PayID® details, as your personal information is required to send you a PayTo agreement. You’ll receive an email with a link to NAB’s Privacy Policy following your payment.
  2. You can then access and review your PayTo agreement on your internet banking or banking app. Your real estate agent or financial institution will be able to advise you where to find the PayTo agreement if you are unable to locate it.
  3. If you’re satisfied with the payment details within the PayTo agreement which were captured by your real estate agent, confirm that you authorise the payment. Your financial institution may send you a SMS confirmation or have other verification checks you’ll need to pass so you can authorise the payment.
