How do Tailored Equity Solutions work?

Tailored Equity Solutions are financial products linked to an underlying equity or index. Unlike traditional equities where you profit from an increase in share price or by receiving a dividend, these solutions enable you to profit from an underlying share price that rises, falls, or remains unchanged over the term of your investment.

What we offer

We provide access to a range of Tailored Equity Solutions that enable investors to navigate varying market conditions or meet different investment objectives. These include:

  • increasing the income generated from your portfolio
  • profiting from your positive, negative or neutral view on an underlying stock or index
  • amplifying your exposure beyond your personal funds, with or without borrowing
  • protection against a fall in a single stock or broader portfolio.

Our team of experts will share market insights and provide execution support to ensure you make informed choices.

Benefits

Investing in Tailored Equity Solutions can enhance your returns by capitalising on equity market movements that reflect your view or desired market exposure.

Flexibility

At the onset of the investment, you select the underlying stock or index, the term of your investment and decide how much risk you’re prepared to take on your investment.

Enhanced returns

The return on your investment does not have to be contingent on an increase in the price of your chosen stock or index. Rather, you may profit from your view that the price of your chosen stock or index increases, decreases, or remains flat or unchanged at maturity.

Diversify your portfolio

Tailored equity solutions offer an uncorrelated investment to traditional portfolios, which means it has a low or negative correlation to traditional asset classes like stocks and bonds. When included alongside traditional investments it can help reduce overall portfolio volatility.

Considerations

Tailored Equity Solutions can be powerful tools for managing risk and enhancing returns, but they also carry risks that you should be aware of.

Market risk

The performance of your investment depends on the underlying stock or index you select. If the price of the underlying stock or index you select does not perform as expected, you may lose some of or all your initial investment amount.

Liquidity risk

Some Tailored Equity Solutions are required to be held to maturity, while others provide flexibility during the term of the investment.

Borrowing to invest

This can magnify both gains and losses. When borrowing to invest, you require the price of your chosen equity to increase sufficiently to recoup any costs paid to NAB for share price protection or interest paid to NAB on your loan.
