Things to know about online banking

  • Passwords and passcodes are the key to your online safety, including the safety of your bank accounts.
  • Make sure you choose strong and unique passwords and don’t share them with anyone or write them down.
  • Take care in public spaces when banking online. Avoid using shared computers, and never leave your computer or device unattended.
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks when banking online as data can be intercepted by criminals.

Steps to register for online banking

Before you can complete any banking tasks through the NAB app or internet banking, you’ll need to register for NAB Internet Banking.

You can do this by using the NAB app on your preferred device or NAB Internet Banking through a browser.

NAB app

Instructions for all mobile devices

  1. Download the NAB app from the App Store or Google Play. If you’ve already downloaded the app, open the NAB app.

  2. Tap Login on the home screen.

  3. Tap Register for Internet Banking.

  4. Enter your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID and Date of Birth.

  5. A security code will be sent to your mobile phone. Enter the code into the designated field.

  6. If you wish to receive electronic communications, enter your email address and select Continue.

  7. Enter a new password in the Create password field, and again in the Re-enter password field. Select Agree and Continue.

  8. You’re now ready to start using NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app for your banking tasks. Login using your NAB ID and Password.

  9. Read the terms and conditions, tick the check box to agree and then select Continue.

NAB Internet Banking

Instructions for web browsers

  1. Go to nab.com.au and select ‘Internet Banking’ from the drop-down menu.

  2. The Internet Banking login screen will display, select Register now.

  3. Enter your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID and Date of Birth.

  4. A security code will be sent to your mobile phone. Enter the code into the designated field.

  5. If you wish to receive electronic communications, enter your email address and select Continue.

  6. Enter a new password in the Create password field, and again in the Re-enter password field. Select Agree and Continue.

  7. You’re now ready to start using NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app for your banking tasks. Login using your NAB ID and Password.

  8. Read the terms and conditions, tick the check box to agree and then select Continue.

Steps to log in to the NAB app

Use the NAB app on your preferred device

  1. Open the NAB app.

  2. For first time login, enter your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID and password and tap Login.

  3. Read the terms and then tap I agree.

  4. You’re now logged in successfully.

  5. For subsequent logins, simply open the NAB app, enter your password (or use a passcode or Face ID if you’ve set one up) and tap Login.

Steps to log in to NAB Internet Banking

  1. Go to nab.com.au and select ‘Internet Banking’ from the drop-down menu.

  2. Enter your 8 to 10-digit NAB ID, and your password. Then select Login.
