After 10 business days, you must securely destroy the cheque. You can do this by shredding the cheque so that the details on the cheque can no longer be read or reconstructed.

  • Usually 3 business days. It will take a further business day if you submit a cheque after 10pm (AEST/AEDT) or on a day that is not a business day. Before the cheque has cleared, you’ll be able to see a record of the transaction in your account history the next business day (or the business day after that if you submit a cheque after 10pm, or on a day that is not a business day).

  • No. At this stage, the deposit limit of $5,000 can’t be increased. You’ll need to visit a NAB branch to deposit cheques over this limit.

    • Ensure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the NAB app.
    • Check that you’ve allowed camera permissions with the NAB app.
    • Re-scan the cheque and make sure it’s within the border of the scanning frame.
  • Try depositing the cheque again. If the deposit was successful the first time, you’ll receive a message advising that the cheque has already been deposited and no further action is required. If the deposit wasn’t successful the first time, go through the steps of depositing the cheque again. If this fails, call us on 13 22 65 or visit your nearest NAB Branch for assistance.
