Things to know about regular payments

  • Regular payments are any payments you set up for a scheduled and repeated frequency.
  • A regular payment can help you avoid missed payments for things like credit card repayments or help you meet a savings goal. This helps establish a good credit history and get a loan.
  • You can set up regular payments to transfer money between your NAB accounts or make payments using ‘Pay anyone’.
  • You can’t set up a regular ‘Pay anyone’ payment using someone’s PayID® details.
  • If you set up a regular ‘Pay anyone’ payment and change your bank account details, it’s your responsibility to update your payment.
  • Daily transfer limits apply to some online payments.

Steps to schedule regular payments

Creating a regular payment is an easy way to schedule payments or bills.

Instructions for mobile devices

  1. Log into the NAB app.

  2. Tap Transfer & pay. If you’re using an Android phone, tap the Menu icon first.

  3. Tap the account you want to transfer from.

  4. Tap Pay anyone.

  5. Choose an existing payee or tap BSB & Acc to add new payee details.

  6. Tap Amount ($) and enter the amount. Tap to add a Reference or Description if required.

  7. Tap Pay when.

  8. Tap Recurring

  9. Tap Frequency and select from the options listed.

  10. Tap Set start date and choose a date from the calendar.

  11. Payments are set to Until further notice by default. To continue, tap Apply.

  12. Tap Next.

  13. You may receive a protect yourself from fraud message if your payment has indications of a potential scam. You can review the details before you continue, change or cancel your payment.

  14. Confirm all details are correct, then tap Pay.

  15. To authorise the payment, enter your internet banking password or passcode.

  16. You’ve created a regular payment. You’ll see your payment receipt.

Steps to edit regular payments

You can make updates to your regular online payments using online banking. Change dates, amounts or other details in a few easy steps.

  1. Log into the NAB app.

  2. Tap More. If using an Android, tap the Menu icon first.

  3. Tap My payments.

  4. In your Future payments list, select the regular payment you want to modify.

  5. Tap Modify payment. You can also choose to Cancel payment.

  6. Make changes to the receiving account, amount or reference if needed.

  7. Tap Pay when to update the payment date.

  8. Tap Set start date.

  9. Select a date from tomorrow onwards.

  10. Make any other changes to the frequency and duration if needed. Then, tap Apply.

  11. Tap Next.

  12. You may receive a protect yourself from fraud message if your payment has indications of a potential scam. You can review the details before you continue, change or cancel your payment.

  13. Confirm all details are correct and tap Pay.

  14. Authorise the payment by entering your passcode or password.

  15. The payment is successfully updated. Tap Share receipt to share the new details.
