Changes effective 1 November 2023

Please read this summary of changes to understand how it will affect your complimentary card insurance policy for International travel insurance, Domestic travel insurance, Rental vehicle excess insurance in Australia, Extended warranty insurance, and Purchase protection insurance.

Key information

Transit accident insurance was discontinued on 1 November 2023. However, if your NAB card offered complimentary transit accident insurance, you can still make a claim if you had a claimable event that occurred before 1 November 2023.

Eligible NAB cards

The following NAB cards included complimentary transit accident insurance.

Eligible purchases

To be eligible, you need to have charged the entire fare in full to the accountholder’s card account prior to commencing your trip.

Policy coverage

Insurance designed to cover you during the period of cover available to you, if you suffer an accident that causes a specified injury within 12 months of the accident.

You, your spouse and your dependants that are travelling with you are eligible, provided the entire fare for the trip was charged to the accountholder’s card account prior to trip departure.

What may be covered

Examples of what this insurance is designed to cover include:

  • loss of life

  • loss of both hands or both feet

  • loss of one hand and one foot

  • loss of the entire sight of both eyes

  • loss of the entire sight of one eye and one hand or foot

  • loss of one hand or one foot

  • loss of entire sight of one eye

What isn’t covered

Examples of what’s not covered include claims arising directly or indirectly because of:

  • death or injury arising out of war, suicide or intentional self-harm
  • claims arising directly or indirectly from loss caused by or connected in any way with an illegal act of you or any person acting on your behalf
  • you booking or taking travel against medical advice.

AWP Australia Pty Ltd ABN 52 097 227 177 AFSL 245631, trading as Allianz Global Assistance (AGA), under a binder from the insurer, Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850 AFSL 234708 (Allianz), has issued an insurance group policy to National Australia Bank Limited ABN 12 004 044 937 AFSL and Australian credit licence 230686 (NAB) which allows eligible persons to claim under it as third-party beneficiaries.
